One-Thousand Lies and One Million Die
As an American, a person from the so-called “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave” I feel ashamed of my country. This is not because we do not produce good works, or that we are an interesting mixture of cultures, but rather, have become a sloth society where the government and corporations have gathered against the people and the vast majority of Americans have accepted this.
Furthermore, I was browsing a forum and found a topic titled “Is Obama Planning on Bringing 50-100 million Muslims into America?”. Aside from that being a huge logistical problem, if these people are law abiding people, what is wrong with this? At least these people have risen up against tyrants where as Americans still want to sit and watch pointless sitcoms on television and gossip about the latest scandals with celebrities.
This does not affect your life, give you a greater understanding of life, nor give a wonderfully fun experience. It is a pointless distraction from things going on in the real world. The real issue behind this story is the fact that many people believe this would cause huge amounts of terrorism and crime. In my personal experience, I have met very few Muslims, who fit the stereo-type. Certainly, there are some who are criminals, but this can be said for all groups of people. The problem is that many of these people who truly do hate America have just cause to do so. Americans and American media has made fun of their religion and culture for years. Then, when over 1 million Iraqis die in what has now been found to be a war based on lies, nobody goes to an international court for war crimes, nothing is done, life just goes on. Of course, this goes against the Geneva Convention, but still nothing is done.
